Eurofleets+ are delighted to further develop synergies with the University of Milano-Bicocca (UNIMIB) through our associated partnership in the new RItrainPlus project.
The landscape of pan-European RIs has changed in recent times into a very rich and diverse community (see ESFRI and National RI roadmaps). The introduction of the ERIC legal instrument in 2009 has particularly helped distributed RIs to find adequate solutions for their distributed nature, linking many smaller RIs (often Core Facilities within organisations) into structured organizations. This in turn has created additional management and governance issues. The RItrainPlus project aims to help Research Infrastructures (RI’s) and Core Facilities adjust to these changes by empowering the staff of RIs (both managers and operators) to tackle the challenges arising on the horizon.
The project will consider the different needs of RIs along their life cycle, from initiation to preparation, implementation and operation. It will bring together the training needs of managers and operators in all scientific fields, along centralized and distributed RIs. Dissemination will go beyond the RIs and shall reach all stakeholders including universities.
The overarching goal of RItrainPlus is to design a training programme to fulfil the competency requirements for the current and future managers of European Research Infrastructures (RI) and Core Facilities (CF).
Eurofleets+ as associated partner will provide advice on management training needs and contribute to the development of the new School’s governance model.
